Last month, pro² Steering Group member Steve Hodges of Microsoft Research gave a talk describing some of the challenges facing low-volume producers of digital devices. Entitled ‘Isotyping: Unlocking a Long Tail of Hardware Products’, it described such issues as designing for reproducibility, high manufacturing costs, and supply chain instability.
