MakeDevice
Register for the beta launch of an exciting new tool for replicating digital devices

Replicating a device in low-volumes for testing and refinement, a process we call ‘isotyping’, is laden with challenges. Efficiency, affordability, accessibility of components and materials… But one tool making the process easier is the MakeDevice web app.
MakeDevice empowers users to replicate robust, replicable prototypes with off-the-shelf parts. It works with the Micro:bit, an easy to code physical computing device, in conjunction with Jacdac, a modular plug-and-play electronics platform. These parts make it easy to prototype novel hardware and software combinations. MakeDevice then allows users to replicate and refine these prototypes. It does this by generating production files suitable for manufacturing a more integrated version of the prototype based on a custom printed circuit board.
Our funded project, REPLICATE, has extended the capabilities of the MakeDevice app, as part of our mission to democratise the production of digital devices. The project is led by Dr Andrew Scott of Lancaster University.
